Get to know your Flower Farmer

I’m Nicole, owner and founder of Buds and Botanicals LLC. I grow specialty cut flowers and foliage in the Pine Barrens of NJ. With the ‘help’ of our 2 boys Barney and Clyde, we are a two person-two dog team!

Nicole started this business in her mom’s backyard in 2020 but has since expanded to a 1.5 acre homestead of her own! Nicole was inspired by her grandmother’s and mother’s love for gardening, and her father’s love for the outdoors. In 2020 Nicole’s father passed away from an aggressive form of bone cancer. Wanting to keep herself distracted during these difficult times, she decided to turn her hobby into a small business.

Nicole has worked full time in the greenhouse industry since 2017. From delivering cut flowers, working at the local garden center, being a head grower managing 10 acres of flowering annuals, to working at a florist, and now currently a plug sales rep helping other cut flower farmers, Nicole has seen all ends of the Horticulture industry. This industry is where she met Tom and fell in love. Tom saw Nicole’s passion for flowers and has been a key team member since day 1. Nicole’s crazy plans would not be possible without his help and innovation!

You’ll often hear Nicole call herself a “Piney”. Being born and raised in the Pine Barrens, Nicole is extremely passionate about this amazing area of NJ and its rich history, specifically with Agriculture. Being a Piney is similar to being a flower farmer. Both require being resilient, unconventional, and steadfast. These are values Nicole believes in.

While Nicole and Tom both work full time in the greenhouse industry today, their passion lies in their own small business. Tom likes the mechanical and efficiency side of the garden, where Nicole enjoys the floral design and business side of things, making them a great team! “Buds and Botanicals has become a fun outlet for us to spend time together outside and supply beautiful flowers to our community”.

Nicole and Tom grow an assortment of flowers, but their favorites include Iris, Tulips, and Lisianthus.
